The father of John H. Ethington is unidentified as of 10 Oct 1988. He is shown as the husband of Callie in the Defoe Henry Co 1900 census dw 121 fam 123. His occupation is that of a Miller. Fielding Ethington built a grist mill on Six Mile Creek - could be a descendant of his.
Information from Betty Ann Bowles about 1980:
"... to complicate matters, Callie Ethington, daughter of Lydia Margaret Ethington and James Ethington, married a John Henry Ethington who was supposed to be a near relative. I haven't identified him yet."18 Sep 1990:
Information just now reviewed, received by Pat Beadle in about 1970, identifies Calica Ethington, wife of John Ethington, buried in the Defoe Cemetery, Pleasureville, Henry Co Ky. This information was sent to Pat by Fred Homer Ethington-3246, who is a grandson of John and Calica Ethington. He states that Calica died in the 1950's, and was buried in the Defoe Cemetery. I feel that this is sufficient evidence to conclude that John Ethington and Callie Ethington, identified above, are the same as the John Ethington and wife Calica, grandparents of Fred Homer Ethington-3246. The files will be merged. The parents of this John Ethington are not known as of Sep 1990. Information on the family comes from grandson, Fred Homer Ethington Jr., in correspondance received by Pat Beadle March 1971. This John may be the same person as John Ethington-2761, who had a son named Fred.
Note from Fred H. Ethington 5 Oct 1990:
" I was told that John Henry Ethington, and his wife Callie Ethington were cousins."Information on the descendants of John Henry Ethington-2160 precludes him from being the same person as John Henry Ethington-140, or John Henry Ethington-138.
John Henry Ethington and Callie or Kelly Ethington married 15 Feb 1897 in Jeffersonville Clark Co IN per IGI. Sealed 11 Apr 1978 SL Batch 7718601/87. Need to contact the submittor of this work.

Father John Henry is not present, Callie is head of family.27 Oct 1996:
In a meeting held with Gary True-12065 11 Mar 1996 at my home in Sandy Utah, He identified John Henry Ethington as his gg grandfather, and showed John Henry Ethington as the son of George Ethington, and grandson of Lewis and Cynthia Ethington. Will accept his work, and tie this family to the said lines.Duplicate submission due to the above work:

Letter from Dorothy Rogers Claxon, granddaughter to John and Callie, dated 9 Jun 2000 to HDE as follows (excerpts):"I am sending a picture of Callie and John with the two sons, Clay and George. This could have been taken before they moved to OK. They moved there because of his health. Callie came back to Henry County after his death with five children. My mother Grace was eight years old and the youngest one. Callie and boys were still farming when my dad Floyd Rogers amd mom Grace married. Callie and George moved to Louisville KY somethime after that.
"I am sending a few notes that are different from your records. I have no proof other than memory. So you may wish to do a little more research. If you think it is needed, please do so. I could be mistaken on some of it.
"Up til now, I had assumed that my Great Grandma Liddia had died before my time. She would have been a Great Great Grandm to five of Grace's children. I don't recall anyone ever discussing her. So I guess with she in OK and no talking about her, I just assumed she was deceased."

Dorothy R. Claxon

Based solely on first name and age, It is assumed that this Callie Ethington is the wife of John H. Ethington (unidentified at 10 Oct 1988) shown in the 1900 Henry Co Ky census Defoe dw 121 fam 123. No other proof supports or contradicts this conclusion as of this date.
Callie is listed in the IGI batch 7718601 sheet 81.
note: Callie Ethington, buried in Pleasurevile cemetery, is assumed to be the same as Callie, wife of John Ethington (a miller), unidentified. See notes for John Ethington-2160.
Letter from Bonnie Ethington dated about 1982:
"There is a Callie Ethington buried in the Defoe Cemetery. The dates on the stone are 1883-1957." It is not clear if this is the same Callie as above. Need further information. [Note from Fred H. Ethington Jr. dated 5 Oct 1990: "This is the same Callie."]Callie identified in Fam group sent by Fred Homer Ethington-3246. See his file.
Per Fred Homer Ethington in info dated 5 Oct 1990 Callie is buried in the Defoe Cem. Henry Co Ky.
The descrepancy between Callie's birth date (1883), and the marriage of her parents (1888) cannot be explained at this time. Need further information to clarify. Note that the headstone birth year differs from actual birth date.
Photo in file of William/Lydia Margaret Ethington.
Letter from John B. Clark to HDE dated 2 Oct 1993 shows burial of Callie (Collie?) Ethington (1883 - 1957, no sex given) in Defoe Cemetery. Will assume that Defoe Cemetery and Pleasureville Cemetery are one and the same, and that the year of birth (1883 on tombstone) is error.
Letter from John B. Clark to HDE dated 18 Nov 1993 shows drawing of the Sammie/Augusta Ethington tombstone, with smaller headstone for Callie Ethington just 6 inches away from the larger stone. Will agree with John's reasoning that Callie is second wife of Sammie Ethington. Need further information to clarify.

Letter from Dorothy Claxon to HDE dated 3 Mar 2001, and telcom 8 Mar 2001 with HDE:"Callie never married after her husband John EThington-2162 died in OK. She lived with her son George Ethington-2162 until she died in 1957. The reason I am sure is, my two older sisters and I were born several years before Augusta Ethington died in 1934. We were old enough to have known about it, if this had occured. We were close to Grandma Callie-2001 and involved in her life until she passed away.
"The mystery of the one and two Callies you described in your last letter is the same person. This Callie is my Grandma and John Ethington's-2160 wife. Her son [George] bought the 4-grave plot nixt to Sammie Ethington's-9260 two grave plot. Callie was not buried next to Sammie because she was NOT his second wife. She was placed there because her plot was next to Sammie's grave. If Sammie had a second wife, it was not this Callie Ethington-2001 .
"Yes, the date of 1883 on Callie's stone is an error. It should have been 1882."
