Obit from Flint Journal:Ethington, R. Dwight, of Grand Blanc, age 60, died Sunday Sept 12, 1993 at his home. Funeral services will be held 10 am Wed Sep 15, 1993 at the Hill Funeral Funeral Home, Grand Blanc. Fr. William F. Wegher officiating Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation from 1 to 9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home where an Elks memorial service will be held 7 pm Tuesday and a Vigil service will be held 7:30 pm Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution maybe made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Ethington was born in Flint on Nob 13, 1932, the son of Troy and Marion Rehfus Ethington. He graduated from Flint Central in 1951, then served for four years in the US Navy. He graduated from Flint Junior College and attended GMI. Dwignt was married in Chicago IL on April 14, 1956 to Catherine A. Lucas. Mr. Ethington was employed at GM Chevrolte Division in 1956, transferring to GMASA Financial in 1969, where he became a General Supervisor. He retired in 1987.
Dwight was an avid Golfer and a member of Flint Elks # 222. Surviving are his wife, Catherine, 2 daughters, Ann Lynn of Okemos, Mary of Grand Blanc; 3 sons, James and wife Pamela of Holly, Michael and wife Lisa of Dexter, Daniel of Burton: Grandsons: Dwight Bernabei, Paul Ethington and Michael Ethington, granddaughters Kayla, Leah and Amy Ethington: Brothers Gary and wife Bobbie of Burton, Donald and wife Helen of Grand Blanc, Kenneth and wife Evelyn of Burton; Brother in law David Smijek, and wife Frances of Demotte, IN, Robert Lucas of Lansing IL. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents Troy and Marion Ethington.
