Thomas ETHERINGTON

From Gordon Remington to HDE, entry in the book "Abstracts of Wills on File in the Surrogate's Office, City of New York" page 93, from page 19 in original:

Page 19:  In the name of God, Amen.  I Robert Etherington, mariner, being sick.  I make my nephew Robert, son of my brother, Thomas Etherington, executor, and after all debtrs are paid, I leave him all my estate, real and personal in England or Maryland or elsewhere.

DatedJuly 17, 1759.  Witnesses, Judson Coolidge, John Stater, Richard Lane, Philip Young, David Arnold, Calvert Coty.  Porved June 25, 1760, before Clem. Smith, in Maryland.  Certificate of Elie Valette that the above is a true copy, Decmeber 15, 1766.  "The said Robert Etherington living in Calvert County."

Confirmed in New York by Sir Henry Moore, Governor, and letters of administration granted to Laurence Reade, guardian of Robert Etherington, "now of New York, nephew who has lately arrived in this Province, being 14 years old." September 1767.


Administration was granted to Hamilton Young and Robert Waddell, of New York, June 7, 1766, but afterwaqrds the above will was discovered, the letters of Admin were revolked, and new letters granted to Dr. Adam Thompson.  "The executor and heir arrived in New York some time in 1767, being then 14 yuears old"  and letters of Admin were granted to Lawrence Reade, his guardian.  He arrived at age and was confirmed as executor by Samuel Bayard, Dep Sec Sep 16, 1774.

This will will be filed in the file of Robert Etherington, Mariner.
