Harvey Newton BENNEFIEL

Obituary for Harvey Newton Benefiel, Frankfort Morning Times May 16, 1942

Benefiel Rites to be held at FAmily Home
Retired LUmber dealer was rewsident of city 81 years

 Funeral servivces for Harvey Benefiel, 89, who died at his home, 659 Washington avenue, on Thursday, will be conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock at his home.  Rev Ora McDaniels will officiate and burial will be at the Odd Fellows cemetery.  Friends may call at the family home.

 Mr. Benefiel's death was due to complications incident ot his advanced age.

 He was born in Southern Indiana near Madison, August 11, 1853.  He came to Frankfort with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Benefiel, when he was eight years of age.  He saw Frankfort emerge from virtually a wilderness to the pregressive city it is now.  With his Father he engaged in the elevator business but after the elevator burned they embarked in the lumber business which they continued to operate many yeuars on the present site of the Frankfort LUmber Company's plant.  

 His wife, who was Orlieve Lamberson and to whom he was married in 1878, passed away May 4, 1937.  He was the last of five children.  Survivors are done daughter, Mrs. Bert Parson:  a son, Earl Benefiel; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Throughout his long an duseful life he made a host of friends in the community.
