Subject: FamilySearchHello, Harold,
My name is Mary Turton and I found your name as a contact for a name
submitted to the new.familysearch.org, that name being David Fielding
Shelton born 19 Sep 1856 in Crawford County, IL. I was wondering if you
have any information on his son, Lester Fred Shelton, who died in 2003,
probably in Jefferson County, IL. In particular, I am looking for
ancestry information on Lester's wife, Myrtle Elaine Shelton. Somewhere
I had that her maiden name was Hutson. If her maiden name is Hutson, here's my story:
I've been researching/trying to find out what happened to my great aunt,
whose name was also Myrtle Hutson, who was adopted out of the Illinois
Soldiers' Home (also called the Illinois Institute for the Feeble Minded
in West Lincoln Twp, Logan County, Lincoln City, Illinois). My great
aunt Myrtle Hutson was born in Indiana and was one of nine children,
which siblings have all since passed away. Their parents were Isaac
("Jesse or Ike) Hutson and Anna Lucinda May Wilmorth. According to the
1920 census, 7th Ward in Mattoon City, Coles County, IL, Myrtle "Hudson"
was 4 years old, making her birthyear about 1916. So my Myrtle Hutson
would be older than Lester Fred Shelton. But I'm shooting in the dark
trying to find out what became of Myrtle who was adopted at about age 4
or 5. It may be that her adoptive parents changed her surname. Can you help me?
Many thanks and kind regards,
Mary Turton
