 Thomas Edward Gash was born in 4/9/1836 and died on 8/5/1908.  He married Una
Mae Seaon 10/28/1856.  She was born on 2/19/1839 and died on 3/19/1917.  They
had a son named Thomas Neal Gash born on 2/6/1859 in Anderson County.  He was a
Baptist minister and died on 1/19/1940.  He married Nannie Etherington on
10/13/1880.  Nannie was born on 3/23/1861 in Anderson County, the daughter of
Marvin Chester Etherington (1839-1909) and Lizzie Jane Reynolds (1841-1901).
Nannie died on 11/25/1938.

James Claude ETHERTON

6 Jan 1958

 Jim C. Etherton, 69, a retired electrician of the Union Pacific Railroad,
died this morning in a local hospital.  He had been in ill health for nine
years and had been critically ill since early in December.  The family home is
at 1817 West State.

 Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 0'clock in the
LIvingston Sondermann Funeral Home by the Rev. A.J. Goodson, pastor of the
First Congregational Church.  Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park.

 Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock at the Livingston
Sondermann Funeral Home.

 Mr. Etherton was born Nov 30, 1888, at Bloomington, Neb. to Charles and
Eunice Bagley Etherton.  When he was 12, the family moved to Red Cloud and it
was there that he completed his schooling.

 He and Miss Lilly Pegg were married at Red Cloud in 1908.  They made their
home in Red Cloud, where Mr. Etherton was employed as an electrician.  Mrs.
Etherton died in 1913.

 In 1915, Mr. Etherton and his two children came to Grand Island.
Here he
entered the employ of the Union Pacific Railroad as an electrician and worked
there until his retirement due to disability in March of 1949.

 He and Goldie Martin were married Dec 22, 1928, at Polk.  To them, four
children were born.  In his years of illness, Mr. Etherton had been cared for
by his wife and family.

 He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Grand Island.  He was
affiliated with the Union Pacific Old Timers Club and the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

 He is survived by his wife, four sons:
   Wesley Etherton of Grand Island
   Donald Etherton of National City California
   Darrell Etherton of Derby Kansas, and
   Gary Etherton, at home.

 Four daughters:
   Mrs. John Thavenet of Burwell, and
   Mrs. Floyd Shick, Freeport Ill;

 Three brothers:
   Frank Etherton of Grand Island
   Walter Etherton, Greely Colo,
   Lou Etherton, Guide Rock Neb.

 One sister:  Mrs. Rebecca Clement, Kenniwick Wash.

 And ten grandchildren.

 His first wife and parents preceeded him in death.
