Jonathan Jewell is not found with the family in the 1870 Edgar County IL
census. Will assume that he has died by that time.
Evidence supporting Mary as the daughter of James Ethington is as follows:
1. Mary Ethington is shown marrying Jonathan Jewell in Edgar County IL on 17
Oct 1837. Assuming she was 20 years old, birth year would be about 1817.2. In 1850, Jonathan and Mary Jewell are found in the Edgar County Census
with children Nancy, Wilburn, James, Angeline, Frances, and Henry.
Mary is 30
years old (born 1820).3. In the 1870 Edgar County census, we find Mary Jewell, age 49 (born 1821)
with children James, Mary, Henry, Susan, Rebecca, Esther, and Lutitia. Living
with her is one James Evington (EVINGTON), age 91, who was born in Virginia.4. The 1820 Jessamine County KY census shows James Etherton with one
daughter under 10 (Mary, born 1820/1821), and several other children.Based on the above, I will conclude that Mary is the daughter of James
Ethington.Marriage:

Mary Jewell is not shown in the 1850 census with this family, but appears in
the 1870 at age 25. Will assume she is not the wife of James P., since in the
1880 census James P. Jewell is single and still living with his mother, Mary.Mary appears in the 1860 census with the family.
Called "Fanny" in the 1860 census. Will assume it is Frances, birth years are
close.
Called Margaret in the 1860 census.
Called Hester A. Jewell in the 1860 census.
In the 1840 census, a James Davis is living next door to James Ethington.
James Davis is 30-40 years old, and James Ethington is 40-50 years old.
When James Ethington's daughter, Polly, marrys Thomas Davis, James H. Davis is
