John Mark Sr. ETHERINGTON

Obituary, Kokomo Howard IN:

 PERU, Ind - John Mark Etherington, 83, Peru RR 1 died at 3:20 am Friday Nov 4
1983, in Americana Healthcare Center in Kokomo.  He had been ill three weeks.
 Born in Howard County, May 26 1900, he was a son of Robert H. and Mary
Garrison Etherington.  Oct 2, 1920 he married Vergie O. Murphy, who died April
1, 1978.
 Etherington had lived most of his life in Howard County, moving to Miami
County in 1958.  H had formerly worked at Glove American Co. in Kokomo and
retired from Eck-Adams in Peru.  He was a member of the South Side Christian
Church in Kokomo.
 Surviving are three sons;  John M. Etherington Jr. of Wichita, Texas, Conrad
Etherington of Warren RR 1, and Larry Etherington of Kokomo;  six daughters,
Mary Jane Etherington, at home, Marjorie Dyer of Royal Center RR 2, Sue
Shepherd of Russiaville RR2, Roberta Lineback of Russiaville RR1, Elaine Quinn
of Camden and Sandra Alspaugh of Peru RR1;  two sisters, June Caldwell and
Susie McCain, both of Kokomo, 28 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
A daughter, three grandchildren, and great grandchild, two brothers and two
sisters are deceased.
 Services will be at 2 pm Sunday in Murray Funeral Home, Galveston Chapel.
The Rev Dann P. Massden will officiate.  Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 pm Saturday at the mortuary.

 Vergie O. Etherington, 76, Bunker Hill RR 1 died at 6:15 am Saturday, April 1
1978, in the American Nursing Home.
 She was born in Cass County on Feb 12, 1902, the daughter of Lewis E. and
Kizzie (Brenton ) Murphy.  On Oct 2, 1020 whe was married to John M. Etherington  Sr. who survives.
 She was retired from Howard Community Hospital in 1968, having worked for 10
years in the dietary department.  She was a member of the Southside Christian
Church.
 Also surviving are six daughters, Mary Jane Etherington, at home, Marjorie
Dyer, Royal Center RR 2,  Sue Shepherd, Russiaville RR2, Roberta Lineback,
Russiaville RR1, Elaine Quinn, Camden, and Sandra Alspaugh, Peru RR!;  thee
sons, John M. Etherington Jr., Kokomo, Conrad Etherington, Warren RR1, and
Larry Etherington, Kokomo; a brother Cal; a sister, Mary Roberts, Kokomo; 28
grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be at 2 pm MOnday in the Murray Funeral HOme, Galveston, with the Rev Charles Babcock officiating.  Burial will follow in the
Galveston cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm Sunday at the funearl
home.

 Etherington infant dies

 Prairie, Ind, Oct 27 (1935)  Tribune Special - An infant daughter born to Mr.
and Mrs. John Etherington at 11 o'clock Saturday forenoon died shortly after
birth and burial took place Saturday afternoon in the Prairie cemetery.  The
baby had been named Linda Lou.  The family now residing near Fairfield,
formerly lived at Prairie.  Surviving besides the parents are the grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Murphy of near Young America, and the following brothers and
sisters:  Mary Jane, Marjorie, Junior, Gerogiana, Roberta, and Dwaine.

 The parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Etherington are not known as of 1 Jun 1991.
However, it is likely that they are descendants of Richard William Etherington-2881 who lived in Howard Co IN at this time.

 Parents identified through Match/Merge Dec 1991.  All merged this date.

 Wichita Falls Texas - Vonna Lou Etherington, 58, 4720 Neta Lane, died
Saturday Nov 17, 1984 at her home.  She was born in Kokomo Ind. May 3, 1926, a
daughter of Raymond V. and Etherl I. (Bryant) Hite.
 Sept 12, 1946 she married John M. Etherington Jr., who survives with three
daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Janey) Wallace and Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Osborn, both of
Kokomo, and Debbie Ferfuson of Sanford, Fla.; a son Keith John Etherington, of
Wichita Falls; three grandchildren; three sisters, Wanita Carson of Wichita
Falls, Onda Lindle and Patricia Walden, both of Kokomo; and a brother, Robert
Hite of Kokomo.  One son is deceased.
 She was a bookkeeper for Wichita Falls Dry Wall Co, and a member of Floral
Heights United Methodist Church, American Business Womens Association, Russiaville (Ind.) Order of Eastern Star, Maskat Guardettes and United Methodist Women.
 Services will be at 2 pm Friday in Hoffman-Murray Funeral Home in Kokomo.
The Rev Edward J. Vasicek will officiate and burial will be in Converse (Ind.)
100F Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm Thursday and from noon to 2 pm
Friday at the mortuary.
