North Hollywood, CA 91602. When he was here Christmas, I showed him the papers
you sent, and he offered to complete them. You may write him re information
desired.
"I suppose you know that the Kentucky Ethingtons of Shelbyville claim relationship with Harry S. Truman. This may be by marriage only.
My son has
no children. I assume he will forward any information he has to you. You no
doubt have the names of our Ethington relatives in Shelbyville: __y Ridge

TIB card for Ann Ethington or Evington, born 1829 Ky. Her parents are listed as William and Elizabeth Ethington. The identity of all three is not clear. Could possilby be William, grandson Hezikiah Ethington who went to Ill early. Note that the family of John-4563 and Polly Ethington was active in Coles Co IL during this time period. A death record for Robert Ethington is found in Coles Co IL, dated 10 Jul 1902, 5:50 AM. He was a farmer, single, aged 69 and 19 days, died in Hutton Twsp. Buried at McKenzie cemetery 10 Jul 1902. He had lived in IL for 50 years.

CENSUS for 1860, father's household shows that Ann was born in IN.
In the Waltrip family file (Coles Co IL library, Charleston IL) Ann is noted as a "cousin to Gowen Adkins". Gowen Adkins was a resident of Henry Co KY, and his father James, came from Orange County VA. All of this will be filed in the William Ethington file until further information clarifies all.
Handwritten notes from the May 1991 field trip to Coles Co IL show a death date for Ann Ethington of 24 May 1898. The source of this date cannot be determined, but it may have been from the Waltrip Family bible in possession of Katherine Waltrip on the old William Ethington property. This date will be entered into the record as the death date until further proof to the contrary.
