James F. Ethington, 65 a retired carpenter, died at the Greater Community hospital here at 6 am today. His death followed a short illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. His body is at Ocens Home for Funerals.
James Franklin Ethington was born at Clearfield Dec 12 1892. He was the son of James L. and Anetta McLaughlin Ethington. He was married March 31, 1917, at Huron S.D. to Virgia May Kieser.
Mr. Ethington moved to Creston from Lenox in 1940 and had lived here since that time. He retired in 1957. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by his widow; three sons, Earl R. in the US Navy, Harold F. and Cecil R., both of Creston; five daughters, Mrs. Gene Cordell of Athelstan, Mrs. V.W. Harpin of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Merle Kuhns and Mrs. Charles Lomicka of Creston, and Lena Ethington of Pueblo Colorado; two brothers, Clarence of Diagonal and Harold of Ames; and three sisters, Mattie Reed of Freona, Texas, Myrtle Schafer of Clearfield, and Lena Wood of Omaha Nebraska.

Funeral services for James F. (Frank) Ethington, a longtime resident of Creston who died suddenly Thursday morning at the Greater Community hospital, were held at 2 pm today at Coens Home for Funerals. Rev. Francis Brockman officiatied. Burial was in Graceland cemetery. Organ music was furnished by Mrs. Helen Kline. Pallbearers were Pearl Andrews, Boyd Siefkas, Bob Frey, Pete Mikkelsen, Glen Wearmouth, and Fred McGinnis.

If Oakley is her uncle, she would be a grandaughter of James William Ethington-265. Need further information to clarify. See notes for Rochelle-4750.

Letter from James Oakley Ethington dated abt 1971 states that birth year for James William Ethington was 16 Jan 1864. Oakley later states (on "Husband's ancestral Chart) that birth year for his father was 16 Jan 1867 in Owen CountyKY.
Wayne Co Il marriages show a marriage between James W. Ethington, and Edith Logan on 5 Dec 1889. James is son of William and ____ Leach, and Edith is daughter of John Logan. This could be a prior marriage for James William to a sister of Hattie. Need further information to clarify. Leach as mother of James William is a problem. This will be set up as a separate marriage until further proof. See James W. Ethington-1295.
Information from Oakley Ethington: James William Ethington was a lay minister, blacksmith, preacher, loved writing, music, a maker of fine knives, a lover of jokes, and a stern disiplinarian.
Note the close resemblance between this family and the family of James Ethington-7116 who is unidentified as of Sep 1991. "[Dad] was a hard worker. Lived in Iowa and Nebraska all his life. Had few hobbies, was too busy working. Had a good sense of humor, would joke with us. Occasionally "tied one on". Rinda Agnes Taylor Ethington, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on Friday, april 27, 1998 in Murray due to cancer.
Bron april 2, 1931 in Safford, Arizona to Ruland and Inez Peel Taylor. Married John R. Ethington, Sr. on September 4, 1953, later divorced. She lived her remaining yearrs in Utah with her family around her. Active member LDS Church serving in many callings including Sunday School, Relief Society, Music etc. She loved music and had a beautiful voice and lvoed to use it in church choirs and solos. She possesed many talents and excelled at everything she did and truly made a house a home you longed to be in and loved all things beautiful.
Survived by her five children, John R., Mark Taylor, and Dwight Ethington, all of Taylorsville; Cherrie Ann Merrell, Boise, ID; Mary Catherine Davies, ORem; 14 grandchildren, four brothers, LaVon, Clarence, Richard adn Junius Taylor. Preceeded in death by parents, older sister, Catherine Lucille Taylor...
