Letter from Louise Ethington to HDE dated 20 Jul 1999:"Cecil Robert Ethington Sr. Mar 13 1922 was a painter, and had retired after 50 years of painting most of Creston IA. He was in WWII in the Pacific, also Navy. THis makes our son 3rd generation Navy.
"Dad had married Lavona Pearl (Sonny) Dixon, her second husband,but after 6 years of marriage they divorced in 1953. He never married after that but had his lady friend even though he always was in love with Sonny. He was a very hard worker and in his later years was a loving father and grandfather to his three children, nine grandchildren, and ten G grandchildren.
"By the way, at the age of 58, he was the proud father of a 30 year old girl: Marcia Berger. She found him after 6 years of searching for him. He was never told of her birth and she was put up for adoption when she was born. He was so proud to be Dad to three children."
