      chronologies and land locations matched to current-day maps.  First of two reports, the most
      difinitive study to date on the Ethington family in early Virginia.

8.  Scott Ethington (1836 - 1905) Letters supporting commutation of prison sentence
       Convicted of stealing a horse, Scott Ethington, son of John and Susannah (Sherrill) Ethington
       served a sentece in the Indiana state penitentiary.  His good behaviour there prompted a series
       of letters supporting his release which was eventually granted by the govoner of the state. 
       On his release, Scott served with honor in the Civil War.

15.  Peter G. Ethington, Tampa Florida 1914
       In 1914 a man's misplaced foot in Tampa Florida slips from a streetcar.  He falls, and dies  
       from his injuries.  Eighty years later, 2,000 miles away, that misplaced foot becomes the 
          final piece in a fractured puzzle of family relationships  --  that piece that suddenly
        makes sense of it all  --  and allows a family, finally, to see itself as one, and know its    
        own rich heritage.

16.    George Washington Ethington  Edgar Co IL to  Guadalupe Co TX 1839 
         Born in Virginia, married in Edgar County Illinois, GW Ethington decided in in 1839 to move to
         Missouri.  He build a raft with the intention of floating down the Wabash to the Ohio, from    
        there to the Mississippi, and to land in Missouri.  But the Mississippi was in flood stage and the
         family was swept all the way to the gulf coast, where they made their way to the Texas coast
         and settled in Fayett and Bastrop counties.  This report tells the discovery of their story.

17.   The Night of the Mobbing
        It was the evening of Monday, June 16, 1902.  The Ethington family gathered at the schoolhouse
        near Benson Creek on the Shelby/Franklin line, to hold a small service for several members of
        the family who had just joined the Mormon church.  This report, as told by Aunt Cordie Green
        who was there, tells what happened when mobbers broke into the school and she found herself
        between the guns and the Mormon elders.

18.  Callendar vs Eatherton Culpeper Virginia 1804
       John Callendar contracts with John Eatherton to purchase land in Culpeper County.  Callendar
       pays the full purchase price, but Eatherton cannot deliver title because the land was only leased
       by his father William, now deceast.  Callendar waits until 1823 when he brings suit in Owen
       County Kentucky, and the resulting paper stream reveals both the Virginia and the Kentucky
       sides of the family in great detail. The most important document found so far in Ethington family
       research.  Loaded in 2 parts (A and B) due to size.  Indexes references to pages 1-22 will be

19.  John L. and William H. Etherington of Coles County Illinois
       At the death of John and Francis (Yancy) Etherington in Owen County Kentucky in 1822, their
       children were assigned out to various guardians and eventually moved out of the county.  This
       report follows the discovery of two of the children in Coles County Illinois, and the research that
       confirmed that they were indeed sons of John and Francis.  Two parts:  A professional research
       report by Gordon Remington, and seocond, research trip notes by Harold D. Ethington.
